1Task is a free Chrome extension developed by Mammbo Group. It is a productivity tool designed to help users manage their tabs and increase focus while working. With 1Task, users are limited to having only 5 tabs open at any given time.
Many individuals struggle with having too many open tabs, which can lead to decreased productivity and increased cognitive load. Whether it's articles to read, tasks to complete, or emails to respond to, the constant influx of tabs can be overwhelming. 1Task aims to address this issue by encouraging users to commit to one task at a time and close tabs once they are done with them.
The extension automatically closes any additional tabs beyond the 5-tab limit, except for music tabs. This exception recognizes that many people enjoy working with music and allows music tabs to remain open without counting towards the limit. However, it's important to note that YouTube tabs are still counted as open tabs.
To install 1Task, simply click on the "Add to Chrome" button in the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, you can activate the extension by clicking on the app icon located on the side of the browser navigation. When the green ON tag is displayed, you're ready to start using 1Task. Clicking the icon again will turn the extension off, although it is recommended to keep it enabled for maximum productivity.
Additionally, 1Task provides a new shortcut to open tabs, CTRL + K or CTRL + E for Windows users and CMD + K or CMD + E for Mac users. This encourages users to think twice before opening a new tab and helps them stay focused on their current task. Another useful shortcut is CTRL + W or CMD + W to quickly close tabs.
